Survey 101: AIA — Lunch n' Learn
Taliaferro & Browne was excited to host a lunch n' learn for AIA on April 23rd, 2009. The topic was Survey 101.
A clearer understanding of surveying terms and principles can help you avoid project delays, smooth your design process, and make modeling and visualizing your site project more seamless. In addition, a better understanding of surveying can allow you to avoid potentially costly and embarrassing legal and property issues. This workshop will focus on key survey components and limitations, survey types, impacts of surveys on design decisions, and coordinating survey and design in site plans.
Workshop participants learned to:
- Identify key survey components and limitations
- Select the survey type they need for a particular project
- Determine the survey's impact on design decisions
- Integrate the survey into the design workflow
- Identify ways to best coordinate survey and design to creat a site plan
